I was extremely disappointed to hear about this game after seeing your art work. I get how you've got to be humble about the whole thing, nut doesn't it piss you off just a 'little' bit?
Your concept was original and fresh, and from a game dev's pov it should of been the better choice, but apparently Ubisoft wishes to satisfy pirate fans, not AC fans, they practically 'admitted' that fact.
A little short sighted, Ubisoft have been developing Black Flag for over 2 years now, I can't imagine they'd scrap it and start again when they've already put so much into it. And saying they're not satisfying AC fans is wrong, I love AC and yes I would have loved what ChaoyuanXu was proposing, it looked genuinely fantastic, but I also love the pirate idea. Pirates are awesome. What they've said about it so far sounds awesome, I can't wait and having been with the series since the start I feel fine in saying that. I hate to sound like I'm ranting at you, I'm not, just pointing out the faults, but I must say you can't confirm it was the better choice, Ubisoft put so much work into researching their time periods that they would definitely know what is the best setting for a game. If they chose the pirates over the Chinese Empire then we've got to understand that it's probably the right decision, or that they're holding back on it which is still a possibility.
Ahhh I hope a huge discussion isn't sparked about how people hate the idea. I read all the comments on the image they posted on facebook and was rather disappointed with the reaction the fans had. So I'm not even going to glance at he comments here, also considering people spoiled the ending of AC3 for me last time I read through comments about the new game. ha. haha. :/
